Free on-site estimate within 24 hours

Kitchen cabinet painting instead of replacing

Most kitchens in Metairie, Kenner and Uptown still have solid wood or plywood cabinet boxes that are better built than what replaces them. Kitchen cabinet painting keeps the boxes and changes everything you see: a sprayed enamel on the doors and drawer fronts, the boxes finished in place, new hardware if you want it. The kitchen stays usable during the job and the result reads as a new kitchen, for a fraction of the time and the money a remodel takes.

Bathroom cabinets, vanities and built-ins

The same process works on bathroom vanities, laundry room cabinets, bookcases and built-ins. A bathroom vanity takes a harder, moisture-tolerant enamel; a built-in in a living room can take a color that ties it to the trim. Each piece is its own line on the estimate, so you can start with the kitchen and add the rest later.

How cabinet painting goes

Four steps, in this order, on every job.

  1. On site within 24 hours

We look at the cabinets up close: material, condition, grease, previous finishes. Not every cabinet should be painted.

  2. You get a written estimate

Per door, drawer and box, with the finish named.

  3. Doors off, boxes masked, primer, spray

The kitchen stays usable; the doors come back in a few days.

  4. Doors back on, adjusted, cleaned

Every door aligned, every drawer checked, the kitchen wiped down.

The prep nobody sees

  • Doors and drawers off, labeled by position
  • Every surface degreased and sanded
  • Bonding primer on boxes, doors and drawer fronts

Most of the job, and the part that decides how long the finish lasts.

Questions about cabinet painting

What people ask before they book. The price is on the written estimate, after the visit.

How long is my kitchen out of service?

The kitchen stays usable: you keep the sink and the appliances, and you lose the doors for a few days while they are sprayed and cured. The estimate gives the number of days for your kitchen.

Can laminate or thermofoil cabinets be painted?

Many can, with the right bonding primer, but not all. Peeling thermofoil needs repair first. We check the material at the visit and tell you honestly whether painting is the right move.

Spray or brush?

Doors and drawer fronts are sprayed for a smooth, factory-like finish. Boxes are sprayed or brushed and rolled depending on the kitchen; either way the finish is the same enamel.

Which finish do you use on cabinets?

A cabinet-grade enamel from Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore, usually in satin or semi-gloss. The product is named on the estimate.

Will the paint chip?

A proper bonding primer and a cured enamel are what prevent chipping. The finish keeps hardening for a few weeks after the job; we show you how to treat it during that time.

Can you paint only the island, or only the uppers?

Yes. A two-tone kitchen, an island in a darker color, or only the upper cabinets: we quote exactly what you want painted.
